Sailing in Enkhuizen

Last weekend we took the boys sailing for the first time on Opi's sailing boat, Gandul. Enkhuizen is in the north part of Holland. One thing is for sure! That ain't the Mediterranean Sea! Even thought it was the end of August, the sea was black and it was cold and windy.

However.... It was an amazing experience. We discovered Oskar is one hell of a skipper ! He hoisted the sails every day and made sure all fenders where stored away neatly when leaving the harbour. He was always on alert, eager to do some kind of work. Dexie on the other hand enjoyed sleeping for hours on end in the cabin - so did I for that matter. I just love sleeping on a boat, especially if it's on the move. There is something magical about sailing. I love hearing the waves crash on the sides of the boat while looking up through the hatch at the huge sail flapping!

It was a beautiful weekend with our boys. Enkhuizen is such a picturesque little town, it could be out of a children's book! Shame Flash had to stay behind.
