Home made playdough

The boys have been up since 5:30 but have been playing nicely and quietly in their rooms... At 6:15am I decided to get up. By 6:45am we were making green, home made playdough.

Here is the recipe:
2 cups flour (all purpose)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
1.5 cups boiling water (adding more in increments if needed)
food colouring (optional)
few drops glycerine ( optional - adds more shine)

Mix the flour, salt, cream of tartar and oil in a large mixing bowl
Add the boiling water
Stir continuously until it becomes a sticky, combined dough
Add the food colouring and glycerine (both optional)
Allow it to cool down and then take it out of the bowl and knead it vigorously for a  couple of minutes until all of the stickiness has gone. * this is the most important part of the process, so keep at it until its the perfect consistency *
If the dough remains a little sticky then add a touch more flour until just right.

I used green food colouring as it made it a bit more dramatic. I didn't have any glycerin but it still turned up great. For best results though store it in the fridge in an air tight tupperware.

Its so much softer than normal playdough and much more fun to work with.
