The Montessori method is autodidactic and focuses on vertical learning. I.e the older children teaching the younger ones. I have witnessed it many times in the classroom but today i saw it properly for first time when my 4.5 year old was teaching his 2.5 year old brother how to count and match the number with the symbol. I was in the kitchen making my coffee and when I walked into their room I saw this! I tried to capture as much as possible on video but my silly phone run out of memory. What you can't see here is Oskar trying to show Dexter how to use his pincer grip to open the wooden peg and place it under the number 10. It was such a beautiful moment I was almost in tears.
